Pure magic. There’s no better way to describe Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. If you’ve never been, it’s the kind of theme park experience you’ll never forget. It transcends the basic concept of a collection of rides, treats and entertainment, it brings us back to the pure, uninhibited excitement and joy easily felt as a child.
Without a doubt Walt Disney World is one of Orlando’s main attractions, and even if you’ve been before it’s good to note – Disney World is always evolving. Considering the park is a whopping 40 square miles (which is roughly the size of San Francisco), one could spend an entire week there and still not see and experience everything!

New Attractions at Disney World
Venture into Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Night
The Walt Disney World Resort is comprised of many different “theme parks,” and one of the most exciting is the Animal Kingdom. This past spring, Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris were added. Animal Kingdom literally features live safari animals, and trust us – it’ll be hard to believe you aren’t actually in Africa, it’s that realistic. African wild dogs and hyenas have been added, which can only be encountered on the after-dark savanna trek. Additionally, there’s more nighttime entertainment and rides, including Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, and DINOSAUR.
Mickey’s New Stage Show at Magic Kingdom
Are four princesses better than one? Absolutely! In the Magic Kingdom, Mickey is now hosting a new stage show – Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire – featuring Princess Tiana, Rapunzel, Frozen’s Anna and Elsa, and plenty of other toon faves.
New Table-Service Restaurant – Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen
If the whole jungle theme really gets you excited, then you’ll love this new restaurant. Tropical cuisine and punny banter from the servers, the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen is a quirky restaurant based on the Jungle Cruise Ride.
Frozen Ever After Attractions
Frozen may very well be the most-loved Disney movie in recent history, and thankfully the park now features plenty of icy-fun to celebrate. There are two main attractions: Frozen Ever After and Royal Sommerhus. Frozen Ever After is a delightful boat ride adventure through the Kingdom of Arendelle. Guests will experience the “Summer Snow Day” celebration, pass through Troll Valley, and then make their way up the icy North Mountain to visit Queen Elsa’s Ice Palace, eventually returning to the Bay of Arendelle.
Anna and Elsa’s Royal Sommerhus is a place to enjoy an enchanted character greeting with the princesses themselves.
Epcot’s Expanded Soarin’ Horizons
Undoubtedly one of Epcot’s most popular attractions, Soarin’ Around California has expanded its horizons to Soarin’ Around the World. Now you can soar over the most breathtaking sites the world has to offer. A third theater has been added to increase capacity, plus every theater is now utilizing digital high-definition media which makes everything clearer, brighter and even more immersive.
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular
If you’re a Star Wars fan, you won’t want to miss this. Lighting up Disney’s Hollywood Studios nightly is the brand new Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. This is a night-capping show featuring choreographed pyrotechnics, lasers, and scenes from the Star Wars saga.
New shows, eateries, and enhanced rides combine to somehow make exciting Disney World even more magical. We are always asking ourselves, “what will they think of next?” Without fail the geniuses behind the Disney enterprise surprise and delight every single year. We hope you’re able to experience the new delights added in 2016, and stay tuned as we update you for what’s on the horizon in 2017.
If you aren’t from Orlando, the best pro tip we can ever offer is – choose accommodations close to Disney World. With so much to see and do, you won’t want to waste time and resources getting to the park from far away. If you’re traveling with kiddos, our 2nd pro tip is – stay somewhere with a kitchen. Suite-style accommodations make any Orlando getaway more relaxing, stress-free and downright fun. Thankfully, there’s a new all-suite resort hitting the Orlando scene in March of 2017. The Grove Resort & Spa Orlando is a mere five minutes from Disney World and features nothing other than suites.
