Often thought of as a destination meant for families, Orlando, Florida has much more to offer than the likes of Walt Disney World.
Not that there’s anything wrong with Walt Disney World, of course not, it’s a wonderful amusement park, but we’re here to explain that Orlando, is, in fact, a cool destination for a guy’s weekend away.
Surprised to hear it? It’ll all make sense once we illuminate the various ways to indulge, play a few rounds of golf, and spend some quality time with your buddies sans kids.
Orlando is America’s entertainment mecca, and though it’s interpreted to mean entertainment for kids, there’s much more to the bustling city than is commonly understood. As the year comes to a close, it might just be time to start planning where you and the guys want to gather for your annual getaway. Check out the following list of reasons why Orlando is the perfect destination for your itinerary.
Planning a Guys Getaway in Orlando
If we’re being honest, Orlando has more incredible golf courses than amusement parks. Seriously, Orlando has an extreme amount of amusement parks which tells you just how many golf courses the region boasts as well. Orlando will ensure you and the dudes get plenty of tee time in. Here’s a course we recommend checking out.
Party Like You’re 23 Again
Miami isn’t the only city boasting a slew of fierce and fiery nightclubs to get the party started. From ice bars to the Latin Quarter Restaurant, Orlando has plenty to entertain once the sun goes down. We recommend checking out:
– Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar
– Mango’s Tropical Café
– Hard Rock Café
– Raglan Road
– The Courtesy
– Bosendorfer Lounge
– Vines Grille & Wine Bar
– Hanson’s Shoe Repair
Crafty, as in craft beer. Because what’s a guys getaway without drinking an absurd amount of craft beer? Orlando has plenty of craft beer and breweries to satisfy even the most enthusiastic connoisseurs. Go for a brewery tour, taste a few flights of beer, or just order the occasional pint over lunch. However, you want to take in your craft beer is up to you. For a comprehensive list of Orlando’s craft beer scene, visit Orlando Beer Guide.
For the Adrenaline Cravings
Getting the guys together might inevitably mean that the testosterone is running high, and a little adrenaline release might be needed! If that’s the case, let us suggest indoor skydiving, riding and/or driving race cars around a track, or Gatorland (featuring the new Gator Gauntlet Zip Line!)
Sports Fan Heaven
Can it really be a guys getaway without constant debate, discussion, and participation in the vast world of American sports? Certainly not. Orlando is a sports paradise featuring a plethora of ways you can engage with nearly every sport known to man. Take soccer, for instance, the 25,500 seat Multi-Purpose Soccer Stadium, home to the Orlando City Lions and Orlando Pride soccer teams, is scheduled to open before the 2017 MLS season. Happening this January is the NFL Pro Bowl game at the Camping World Stadium, which is comprised of a week of watching team practices and engaging with the teams. For the basketball aficionados, you won’t want to miss the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship happening on March 16 & 18. There’s Not a Bad Time to Visit
It’s no easy feat finding a weekend or week when all 4,5, or 8 of you (for example) can get together. Few things are more frustrating than finally finding a date, to then realize the destination will be freezing cold. Thankfully, Orlando offers pristine weather year-round. No worries, pick your weekend and head to Orlando, no further discussion (regarding the temperature at least) needed.
Plenty of All New Luxury Resorts to Headquarter At
Pools, drinks, spas, bars, grub, fishing… imagine, everything you need all in one place at your disposal. Orlando is famous for luxury resorts, and boy are there plenty to choose from. Yet, surprisingly, many resorts don’t offer suite-style accommodations, and if you’re getting together for a guy’s weekend, a suite-style room is what you’ll want. Late night poker sesh? Few rounds of drinking games? All possible if you have a private kitchen and common area in your hotel room. If that’s the kind of getaway you have in mind, then we recommend checking out The Grove Resort & Spa Orlando, the newest, and only, all-suite resort hitting the Orlando scene in March 2017.
