No doubt about it, Orlando is a supreme vacation destination, for people outside of Orlando… right? Right and wrong. Orlando is also an epic play to have a staycation. In fact, Orlando has been named one of the best cities for a staycation. For all of the lovely Orlando residents, when was the last time you treated yourselves to a staycation? We’re thinking it’s your turn to enjoy the entertainment capital of the U.S.!
The best bit is, you can staycation anytime, meaning before and after the tourist season. You have the freedom to enjoy the finest aspects of Orlando without the crowds! Maybe work has been particularly stressful, or you want a weekend to relax with your sweetheart. Whatever the reason, we’ve got some stellar Orlando staycation ideas for you!
Here’s How to Enjoy a Staycation in Florida
Staycation For Just a Day
If time or budget constraints exist, but you still want to at least feel as though you’re on vacation for a day, no problem, Orlando’s got you covered. First consideration – weekday or weekend? Second consideration – before or during spring break season? If you’re staycation before spring break season, a weekend might be ok, during spring break season we suggest opting for a weekday. Now, to the fun part – a day of vacation!
Spa/Pool Day – Take advantage of Orlando’s insane amount of hotels and resorts and treat yourself to a day pass at one! And guess what? Some of the resort pool usage is free with the purchase of a spa treatment… so if you were already planning on going to the spa it’s a win-win! How to do this – simply call whichever resort you desire and ask about the requirements for pool entry for the day.
Theme Parks – This is so obvious, but if you’ve never ventured into an Orlando theme park on a non-packed day, you’re missing out! This can and will only happen on a weekday, at the end of January, much of February, and maybe the beginning of March. After that, well, stick with weekdays and hope for the best!
1-2 Night Staycation
Staycationing for one or two nights is such fun! Just enough time to unwind a bit, enjoy yourselves, and make a few memories. This is also a great way to spend some quality time with a significant other. Here are a few ideas
Romance Route – If you are in fact wanting a romantic rendezvous, a nice quiet, romantic hotel is just the thing. Check out the Villas of Grand Cypress – serene and surrounded by nature. For an elegant aesthetic and waterfront views, opt for the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal.
Golf Getaway – Craving hours, or even days, of undisturbed golf time with the group? Staycation! It’s no secret Orlando is quite the golf destination, with an array of world-class courses attached to hotels/resorts. Take advantage! A few to consider – Grand Cypress Golf Club and Shingle Creek Golf Club.
Week Long Staycation
You’ve got the time off and rather than deal with planning an exotic getaway, you want to maximize your relaxation by staying right here in Orlando. Easy – go for a suite-style resort that offers maximum activities. So many of the Orlando resorts have so much to do on property, you won’t even need to leave the resort. Especially if you’ve been an Orlando resident for a while and have already done all the sightseeing – let the resort be your vacation oasis!
The Grove Resort & Spa Orlando – This brand new all-suite resort is hitting the Orlando scene in March and is a vacation pre-packaged and ready to go. It’s simple. The suites have a kitchen, common area, and wash/dryer. The resort is massive, and it’s going to feature
– Surfari Waterpark
– Lake Austin
– The Springs – Adult only pool
– Escape Spa
– Four Restaurants
– Four Bars
What are you waiting for? Orlando is a giant playground and it’s at your disposal! Whether you simply can’t get away far, don’t wish to, or are new to Orlando, a staycation is a perfect way to relax, explore, and spend quality time with loved ones – totally stress-free.
