Walt Disney World is a behemoth. Seriously, it’s the largest theme park in the world. Yet, it isn’t just one theme park. Oh no, Walt Disney World is comprised of four theme parks, each one offering new and exciting adventures to be had.
The four theme parks are Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Walt Disney World is so expansive, in fact, that for many visitors choosing which parks to visit and for how long, can be a challenge! To fully explore each theme park, more than one trip to Orlando is necessary. But in the meantime, for your planning and enjoyment purposes, we’ve got the insider scoop on the latest and greatest Animal Kingdom attractions.
Step Inside These Animal Kingdom Attractions
The Animal Kingdom is by far one of our favorite Walt Disney World theme parks. Between live animals, riveting rides, and fascinating cultural experiences, Animal Kingdom has much to offer and is one of the easier parks to explore. Without further ado, we recommend enjoying the following Animal Kingdom attractions.
Coming May 2017, The Highly Anticipated Pandora: World of Avatar
Finally! One of the most-anticipated new attractions in all of Walt Disney World is opening on May 27th, 2017. Pandora: World of Avatar sounds like it is going to be nothing short of epic. We can’t say for sure as it hasn’t opened yet, but based on the descriptions, rides, and aesthetic, we don’t doubt it’s going to be one of the most popular and exciting attractions in the Animal Kingdom. For ride descriptions and pictures, visit here. From May through July 4th, 2017, the park’s hours will be extended! You can visit until 11 p.m.
For The Most Thrills and Adrenaline, Ride Expedition Everest
Animal Kingdom is very family-friendly. Meaning the park offers an array of rides to suit every age and comfort level. Hands down, though, for those park-goers who crave a thrill, you won’t want to miss Expedition Everest – Legend of The Forbidden Mountain. Essentially the ride is a roller coaster that rushes through, up, and down, the tallest mountain in the world – Mt. Everest!
Gaze in Awe at the Nighttime Rivers of Light Show
For the past year, the Animal Kingdom park has been undergoing enhancements to make its nighttime offerings as fun and exciting as the daytime offerings. One such addition, as of February 2017, is the incredible Rivers of Light Show. Essentially, the show consists of live performance, floating set pieces, a delightful musical score, fountains, and much more. It’s a celebration of animals and nature – the theme of the Animal Kingdom in general.
Enjoy The Best Safari Experience Outside of Africa on Kilimanjaro Safaris
Named the Animal Kingdom for a reason, the park features an incredible array of wildlife, many of which can normally only be found in certain African countries. If you love to watch wildlife, then going on the Kilimanjaro Safari is a must! On this ride, you’ll get to jump on board an open-air safari vehicle and take a tour through the safari to spot exotic wildlife.
Tip – Animals are most active in mornings and evenings. This is also when crowds are thinner.
Celebrate Life at The Festival of The Lion King
One of the all-time most beloved Disney movies is The Lion King, and if you’re a fan of the Lion King, be sure to enjoy The Festival of The Lion King! Featuring performers in beautiful, vibrant attire, parade floats, scene enactment, and much more, The Festival of The Lion King is an audio-visual paradise!
Savor the Sights, Sounds, and Libations
Out of all the Walt Disney World parks, Animal Kingdom is our favorite park to simply sit in and enjoy. It’s magnificent – the aesthetic of the place really makes you feel as though you’re there. Whether than be in the Himalayas, on an African Safari, or in the fictitious world of Pandora. Since many of the other parks have more rides, this is the park to spend time savoring the sights, dining on delicious cuisine from around the globe, and listening to the unique sounds – from both humans and animals. For dining, we recommend:
- Flame Tree BBQ
- Tusker House
The Animal Kingdom transcends the mere title of theme park. The Animal Kingdom is so well crafted and curated, that it truly feels like you’ve been transported to the most exotic corners of Earth. Between stimulating rides, mesmerizing shows, and cultural experiences, Animal Kingdom should be a top choice at Walt Disney World.
